Katherine has been writing stories her whole life. She wrote creatively in graduate school as a break from writing her dissertation in sociology. "Writing helps me process my life," she says. An avid reader from an early age, a few of Katherine's favorite books from childhood are Charlotte's Web, The Little House Series, The Complete Chronicles of Narnia, Bridge to Terabithia, and The Giver. In school, Katherine was sometimes reprimanded by her teachers for reading too many Babysitters Club books instead of more "serious" books. Today, she enjoys reading books in all genres. 

A former college professor, Katherine lives in Atlanta with her husband and three children. When she is not writing, Katherine enjoys spending time with her family and their backyard chickens, two cats, and dog.
