About the Author

Katherine Mitchell is a fiction writer. 

An avid reader from an early age, her favorite childhood books were Bridge to Terabithia and The Giver. In fourth grade, Katherine’s teacher reprimanded her for choosing too many Babysitters Club books. Today, she continues to read and write many kinds of stories.

Fascinated by people and social (dis)organization, especially in families, Katherine discovered sociology in college at the University of Georgia. She earned her doctorate at Penn State, where she wrote creatively as a break from her dissertation. As a tenured professor at Louisiana State University, she taught courses in family relationships and research methods.

Katherine lives in Atlanta with her husband, three children, golden retriever, housecats, and backyard chickens. Her favorite place to visit is western North Carolina.
